I've been painting for about 2 years. I usually work with acrylics, but just decided to try out oils. This is my second oil painting so far and I can't wait to make more! I am a 14-year-old Freshman at Dayspring Academy. I haven't done much art there but I have participated in art shows at another school. I am currently learning Japanese, taking tennis lessons, running, and love listening to k-pop! However my main hobby will always be art.

Ellie Hogrebe

Ellie Hogrebe is 18 years old and currently attending the University of Missouri at St. Louis as a freshman. She is undecided about her major, but is considering studying English, Political Science, or Art. Ellie enjoys reading, drawing, and being outside. Her piece was inspired by the ballet Swan Lake. She loved the idea of trying to capture the beautiful desperation of the girl attempting to escape her fate as a swan. She also appreciated how a swan's shape mirrors the form of a ballet dancer, and tried to demonstrate that reflection in this piece.
Noelle Hogrebe

Hi! My name is Noelle Hogrebe. I’m 17 and I go to school at Cor Jesu Academy. My hobbies including drawing, reading, singing, writing, ultimate Frisbee, acting, and anything with family and friends. The inspiration for this art piece came from one of my favorite music videos, Sia’s “Elastic Heart”, and the girl in my drawing is taken from a paused moment of the music video. The contrasting and bright colors I added represent all of the emotions and feelings that are translated through dancing, and also how dancing and any form of art can be a way to cope with the messiness of life.
